How to Play Sky Ace Airplane

Controls

Fly with WASD or the arrow keys. The nose gun fires on its own and never stops, so you never press a shoot button. Hold Shift (or the on-screen CANNON button) to charge the pierce cannon and release it to fire; tap Space (or ROLL) to barrel roll. On a phone or tablet, drag anywhere to fly.

Tips

• The gun is not your job. Aiming is automatic, so every decision you make is a positioning one — keep the plane under the raiders and away from the bullet lines at the same time.
• Charge whenever the sky is clear. A full pierce cannon cuts a column straight through the screen, which is the fastest way to strip a bomber's hull and the only comfortable way to hurt an ace.
• Below roughly a third of the charge bar the cannon does nothing. Do not tap it in a panic — either commit and hold, or roll instead.
• Barrel roll is the only invulnerability in the game, and it lasts less than half a second. Use it when a bullet line has already committed to where you are, not as a travel move.
• Kill turrets first. They track you and fire aimed shots; scouts, weavers and bombers all fly predictable lines, so the turret is the one that makes everything else dangerous.
• Stay in the lower third of the sky, but never pinned to the bottom edge. You always want room underneath you to drop into when a wall of bullets arrives.
• An ace shows up every forty-five seconds with a warning banner, and its fan of fire widens the longer it stays alive. Burst it down early rather than trading shots from a distance.
