How to Play Alien Swarm: Orbit

Controls

Click, tap or press Space to reverse your satellite's orbit direction. That is the only input — your turret picks its own target and fires automatically, so nothing depends on your aim.

Tips

  • Treat reversing as a dodge, not a turn: flip the moment a bug enters your orbit lane, then flip back to reclaim your firing line.
  • Your turret always shoots the nearest bug, so a leak is still recoverable — unless something closer keeps stealing its attention.
  • Shields absorb one hit and shove the bug back outward. Spend them early; a saved shield has never stopped a Hive Queen.
  • Every bug you destroy repairs the planet. Leaking is survivable, standing still is not — keep the turret busy.
  • Chargers lunge at wherever you are standing. Hold your reversal until they commit, then slip past them.
  • A Hive Queen arrives every third wave. She keeps spawning drifters while she advances, so clear the small ones first or the ring floods.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Alien Swarm: Orbit free to play?

Yes — it is completely free, directly in your browser. No signup, no download and no install.

Can I play it on a phone or tablet?

Yes. It is built with HTML5 canvas and uses tap controls, so it plays the same way on mobile and desktop.

How long does a run last?

Most runs end between 60 and 120 seconds. The swarm accelerates every 22 seconds and a Hive Queen forces her way in every third wave, so the pressure climbs on a fixed schedule.

Do I have to aim?

No. The satellite fires by itself at the nearest bug. Your entire skill ceiling sits in when you choose to reverse direction.

Who made Alien Swarm: Orbit?

It is an original game developed in-house for 8204.me. Every shape, particle and sound effect is generated procedurally in code — no third-party art, audio or game engine is used.

Gaming Terms to Know

Cover System
A mechanic where you take shelter behind objects (walls, crates, vehicles) to avoid enemy fire. You peek out to shoot and duck back to reload.
Headshot
A shot that hits an enemy in the head, dealing critical damage or instant kill. Headshots reward accuracy and are tracked in multiplayer stats.
Recoil
The backward movement of a weapon when fired. Higher recoil means your crosshair jumps more — controlling it through burst-fire or mouse pull-down is a key skill.
ADS
Aim Down Sights — zooming in through a weapon's sight or scope for more accurate shots, at the cost of slower movement speed.
